There : There is no reason to worry. Abnormal periods(length and consistency) are very common in women at any point of their reproductive life. Often times if your period is coming on and you have sex it will stimulate a little bleeding to come down (even though it is not time) this may explain why it started then stopped and started again. Another possibility is that the hormones in birth control pills cause spotting, which could explain what happened to you as well. If you continue to be irregular consult your doctor for a possible change in birth control. All the best.
