If : If you are certain the pain during sex started after the mirena, (levonorgestrel) and it causing your partner discomfort, then you may consider having it removed. However first you should discuss this with your doctor. There is a possibility that it needs to be adjusted, and also a possibility you may have a vaginal infection which is causing the pain. Regardless a pelvic exam/iud check by your doctor is in order. Best of luck.
