Well, : Well, mononucleosis; which is also called the kissing disease; is usually spread when the epstein-barr virus is passed from an infected person’s saliva to another person. The most contagious period is when the person is actively sick and for about six weeks after the person's symptoms stop. However, the virus can still be found in saliva for several months in some cases. So, if you have been kissing, the condom will not be protective.

Confusing question: You are likely to pass it in sexual fluids during the acute/ill phase, but when this has cleared from your blood, that would not be common. The primary method of exposure/transfer is in your saliva, which will contain active virus for weeks and months during the illness & after you feel better. The condom might be a good idea for many reasons but Has little to do with the mono issue.
