Usually : Usually with any oral surgery i recommend you put ice to the outside cheek in the area for an hour or two...Probably you could go back to work..Gingivoplasty is not a very invasive surgery.

Depends...: On your adaptive ability to having a dental procedure performed and the size of the area to be treated and the technique used. If the area is just a few teeth it would be less uncomfortable than if te whole mouth were treated and if the treatment is performed with a laser instead of conventionally by using a scalpel, your healing can be faster and your pain can be less. Talk to your treating dds.
