Honey, saline...: Dark honey has been shown to help many children with cold symptoms. Honey should be given to children over 12 mo of age. Also, saline (made at home with non-iodized salt and water) or purchased as a nasal spray is very effective for nasal congestion. Also good-old vapor rub has been shown to be effective to improve cold symptoms and sleep at night in children over age 2.

Cold Remedy: Homemade chicken noodle soup can help to mobilize mucus & has an anti-inflammatory effect. Hydrate well with clear broths, water or add a small amount of lemon to Chamomile tea. Pour boiling water over thinly sliced ginger. Steep 5 min. in a covered pot. Add 2 to 3 tbs honey & sip. Avoid honey in babies.
