The reason being is that the speed at which marijuana leaves your body depends on two things, your metabolism, and the half life of the marijuana (which is estimated to be anywhere from 1-10 days). Depends: On how much and how often you smoke or ingest it. If its a one-time use in modest amounts, it will only remain 2-4 days if the test used has the usual sensitivities. However, in people who smoke regularly, and in particular more heavily, thc is soluble in body fat stores and can remain there for many weeks, and sometimes even months. Hair follicle tests will show any pot use in that hair.
