A bulge: A hernia is a hole in the wall of something. This allows the usually contained "stuff" to push outward and create a bulge. There may be pain if the bubble (the bulge)stretches open the hole (hernia site) and some of the time the bulge can get stuck or twisted in the hole and cause symptoms from damage done to what is inside the bubble. This can be and incarcerated or strangulated hernia.
