In : In general, it is always a good idea to use a back-up method of contraception (like condoms) when using hormonal birth control and taking antibiotics. Many antibiotics can induce the body to metabolize the birth control hormones faster thus making the pill, patch, or Depo-Provera shot less effective than it normally would be.
