Cramps: Postprandial abdominal cramping may be due to food intolerance, irritable bowel syndrome, intestinal adhesions(if one had previous surgery), abdominal hernia, or laxative type reactions to a medication. A gastroenterologist could evaluate and advise you. Referral to an abdominal surgeon could be made if deemed advisable after the evaluation. Antispasmodics help irritable bowel syndrome symptoms.
