During : During a woman's period, an unfertilized egg has been recognized in the uterus. Since it is not fertilized (by sperm), the egg does not implant into the uterus, so the uterus sheds its lining which is excreted in the form of blood and sometimes brown discharge or clots (period). After that, the menstrual cycle restarts. Hormones are released to reprocuce the lining of the uterus, the woman ovulates 10-14 days after the first day of her period, and the egg travels throught the fallopian tubes to the uterus. If the egg is not fertilized, then the uterine lining is shed (a period) again, and so on. Using a condom is a great way to prevent stds and pregnancy. Use them as directed, use lubrication if needed, because if if there is not enough lubrication, the condom can break. Also, you can buy condoms that have spermicide inside the condom, which kill sprem upon contact. If you have observed these rules, you should be ok.

Very unlikely ...but: Conception has been documented on any day of a woman's cycle, including during menses. Those with regular cycles are less risk than those who are irregular. It rarely happens but could. You should be responsible for contraception if she is not on the pill. A dozen condoms for a dollar are available in many locations.
