How soon can children learn colors?

12 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Around 2 years: Most children can begin to recognize and point out 1 or 2 colors by 2 years. Some as early as 18 months. Language development is happening at an astonishing speed during this time, so make sure you are naming everything and its color around you! by 4 years a child typically will know about 4 colors. The best way to help them learn is by example and showing them the world around them.

Development: Children begin to recognize colors about 18m. Most children can tell you one color, by 3yrs. Reading and pointing out colors on the books, as well as the pointing out the colors around them. If they choose the wrong color, don't tell them they're wrong, just repeat with the correct one.
