Many things: Epidural steroid injections work best with pain that radiates down one or both legs from a disc bulge. Back pain by itself or muscle spasms don't respond to the epidural as well. Your pain may be coming from facet joints, sacro-iliac joints or many other causes. Talk to your doctor about where she thinks the pain is coming from and what other options there may be for treatment.

Ive been dealing with back pain since May. Ive tried the chiropractor and physical therapy. Ive also tried deep tissue massage. While it seems to help for the evening, I go back to sitting at my desk all day the next day and end up with the same pain.
