Is there anything a young man can do to prevent having an enlarged prostate in the future?

No: Prostate enlargement is a normal occurence in men. It is hormonally controlled and cannot be delayed or prevented by diet or activity. There are medications available to help shrink the prostate but is reserved for older men who have urinary issues with known prostate enlargement.

Not much: The prostate gland will continue to grow throughout a man's lifetime. There are medication which can slow that growth rate, but are indicated for use in the presence of significant benign prostatic enlargement and lower urinary tract symptoms.
