Not a substitute: Liposuction or "liposculpture" is effective in treating areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise not a substitute for healthy eating habits and lifestyle. Make sure you seek the opinion of a board certified plastic surgeon if you are considering liposuction.

Permanent: Liposuction is permanent in that fat cells are permanently removed. This will change the contour and bulk of the fat in the area that is liposuctioned. If you keep your weight and activity stable the results will be permanent. When you do liposuction you should be at a normal healthy weight which you plan to maintain.

Somewhat: Liposuction permanently removes fat from an area. If you gain weight, then remaining fat cells will" plump up.".
