I'm : I'm sorry to hear that you are having such issues with your knee. Has your doctor looked into other causes? Some lower back problems can cause referred symptoms in the knee. The sensitivity to touch would worry me about a "pinched nerve".. I also routinely see patients who complain about knee pain who actually have a hip problem.. You didn't mention any injury to your knee, however some people develop a condition called rsd (reflex sympathetic dystrophy) after apparent minor injuries which result in significant pain and senstivity of the sking. These are just a few things i would discuss with your doctor.

Torn meniscus : The catching and locking very frequently indicates that something is going on inside the knee. In rare circumstances, an MRI may not show a meniscus tear, especially if it was a low strength magnet. I would start by having a different radiologist look at the mri. If still read as negative, an MRI with intra-articular contrast would be my next recommendation.
