A member asked:

Do you know what endogenous ethanol syndrome is? if so, how does it occur in one's body?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Exceeding rare: There have been a handful of case reports of people who had various microorganisms that colonized their bowel (which we ALL have, and need to have), but aside from the usual bugs had species of bacteria and yeast that fermented foods into alcohol, and they essentially got "auto-intoxicated." This is extremely rare, and I have never seen a case. They can be eliminated with proper medications.
