A member asked:

Contagiousness of rotavirus? if i've been around an infant with rotavirus, how long should i avoid other infants for?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: Rotovirus is shed in the stool in great numbers & can be found in the vomit of affected kids.Transmission can occur if only a few organisms are ingested, a process more common in infants with pervasive hand to mouth activity. The virus is shed for up to 3 wks in the poo, & hygienic practices can limit spred. Affected pts become symptomatic within 3 days of exposure.
