Stay out of the sun.: Sunlight is primarily responsible for darkening your skin. Stay out of the sun as much as possible, and apply a good broad-spectrum sunscreen whenever you are in the sun.

Probably not: Question-why do you need to lighten your skin? Have you had major changes in your skin color or texture? If so, you may have underlying medical problems and should see a doctor. Some medical conditions show up in the skin, like an adrenal problem. Medications, like chemotherapy can cause skin color changes. If you want skin lightening for cosmetic reasons only, self-image may be a bigger problem.

Dark Spots: Dark spots in skin can be seen in patients struggling with acne, insect stings, eczema and other inflammatory conditions of skin. Over the counter creams which may or may not include hydroquinone should help. You may choose to avoid hydroquinone the main ingredient in bleaching cream. Please note changes of skin color may also reflect underling undiagnosed medical conditions like diabetes
