A member asked:

If ones urine analysis has red blood cells (per hpf.) as 0/1, pus cells (per hpf.) as 3/1 and epethelial cells as 7/1 what does it mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Urine analysis: There are many things that come together to diagnose a uti. The epithelial cell suggest a poor catch and contamination. Without voiding symptoms1 red cell and 3 white cells can be normal. >3 rbc/hpf in 2/3 specimines is the definition of microscopic hematuria and should be worked up with a urologist. Especially in a smoker.
