What are treatments for someone who has both osteoarthritis and scoliosis?

Lifestyle changes: Not smoking, weight control & regular exercise are the key ones. Modifying activity that aggravates the back, trying a back support & use of medication if not medically contraindicated can also make a difference. Physical therapy & injections through pain management may help. If the scoliosis is large or creating imbalance or instability with a failure of treatment, surgery may be indicated.

Scoliosis: Treatments for scoliosis range from observation to surgery. Physiotherapy can be helpful to work on core strengthening. Antiinflammatories can sometimes be helpful for pain. For more severe pain, we consider treatments like epidural injections, and surgery is a last resort. Seeing a spine specialist to discuss all the options will be helpful for you.
