A member asked:

My brother died chronic granulomatous 8 years ago, as i am a girl i have been told i may be a carrier, could this stop me having children for good?

Most cases of CGD...: Are genetically transmitted as a sex-linked disease. Your brother got the "bad" x chromosome from your mom, and a y from your dad. You got an x from your dad and either one of your mom' x chromosomes. If you get pregnant, your girls would have a 50% chance of carrying the "bad"x and your boys a 50% chance of cjd. Genetic testing is available.
