A member asked:

Can genetic counselors help you choose the sex of your baby?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not at all: Genetic counsellors can help you sort out your family tree and gain incite on the risk of a hereditary condition in a planned pregnancy, or the risks of having another child with a genetic condition. They have no magic way of telling which sperm will join with an egg to establish a pregnancy. It is the gender chromosome carried to the egg by the sperm that decides the child's sex. That is random.
