2 different viruses: SARS was an explosive outbreak of adult respiratory distress syndrome that started in Hong Kong in 2003. Within weeks of the outbreak it was determined that SARS was caused by a novel coronavirus. Influenza virus is entirely different species of virus. There is no cure for SARS; it is treated by supportive measures. Corticosteroids, alpha interferon and lopinavir/ritonavir have been used.

SARS: Severe acute respiratory syndrome was caused by a novel beta coronavirus (SARS-CoV). which popped up on Hong Hong in 2003. There were no further cases by 2004 and it pettered out on it's own without a cure. It is not the flu - which is caused by influenza viruses. The newest novel beta coronavirus (COVID 19) materialized in 2019 and is caused by SARV-CoV-2. There is also no cure for COVID 19.
