Black shower mold: Black mold above a shower would not be the likeliest cause of his hempotysis- the medical term for coughing up blood. Many people do this when they have bronchitis. He should see a doctor and have a chest x ray. He should stop smoking, if he is a smoker. He might have asthma; he could be allergic to mold. The mold problem should be fixed, and he can be tested for problems from it.
