A Few Possibilities: The heart is generally well calibrated to deliver the precise amount of oxygen the body needs. Defects in the heart's structure or function can undo this balance, but for most people with inappropriate heart racing, it's because of an abnormal heart rhythm (there are many types but they're collectively called svts - supraventricular tachycardias). See a cardiologist for an evaluation if needed.
