It most likely is a : Muscle in spasm similar to flexing or contracting your muscle in your arm like popeye so it appears large or even swollen. She even may have a scoliosis in her back that she is now noticing a "bump" or deformity since her back is hurting her attracting her attention to it. She may even have a spasmodic scoliosis.
