What should you discuss with your healthcare provider before taking bromocriptine?

Taking bromocriptine: Contraception because if you're being given this medication for galactorrhea with elevated prolactin you may start ovulating without realizing it. As about the time of day to take the mediation because it can be associated with nausia.

Current medications: There are several meds that can't be taken with bromocriptine, so be sure to discuss any rx or otc meds first. Also, contraception is important, as bromocriptine isn't typically taken during pregnancy. Finally, be sure to find out if you really need this medicine, as it's generally given for an elevated prolactin level, but many docs don't check the blood level in the way in should be done!
