Depends: It depends on the familial genes of the persons family. A child with congenital diaphragmatic hernia who does well with surgery should enjoy a long life like anyone else unless there are lung issues which would present early on.

Depends.: Depends also on the type and severity of the hernia. While we often think of cdh solely in the context of severe presentation in early life, they are also found on ct scan without symptoms: http://www.Ajronline.Org/content/177/2/363.Long . So the answer would be a normal life expectancy is possible, but depending totally on the severity and presentation and other medical problems present.
