Pinhole effect: If you are nearsighted squinting will cause a pinhole effect, which will allow you to focus on light rays that pass directly through the center of the cornea and lens, thus eliminating some of the light rays that are not in focus on your retina. You might need a thin pair of glasses for your best vision, especially for driving at night.
