What is a liver laceration?

Cut or Tear: The liver is the largest organ in the body; although well-protected by the rib cage, it is prone to injury via blunt (car crashes, falls) or penetrating (gunshot, stabbing) trauma. Most of the time, these lacerations heal without the need for surgical rx, depending on the location and severity of the laceration. As julia child (via dan ackroyd) said, "never forget the liver".
