A member asked:

What are things you should know if you have an elevated pth, normal calcium level and vitamin d deficiency?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Correct D deficiency: Vitamin d deficiency reduces intestinal calcium absorption and stimulates parathyroid hormone secretion which maintains the blood calcium in the normal range until it is so severe that a low blood calcium develops. Correction of d deficiency restores the parathyroid hormone and calcium to normal.
