Allergies: Most often, when children have dark circles under their eyes it may be due to lack of sleep or allergies. Allergies to pollen can cause slight swelling of the lower eyelids and make them appear darker. Over-the-counter antihistamines may help if he has symptoms of congestion, cough or sneezing. Avoid rubbing the eyes which can make any irritation worse and may lead to an infection.
