How important is it to attend physical therapy after an acl reconstruction?

ACL rehabilitation: We believe all patients benefit from great pt after ACL treatment. It is best to mobilize the tissues early to reduce scar formation and to increase range of motion. Athletes lose less muscle and proprioception if training starts on day one after surgery.

Very: After acl tear and reconstruction, it is very common to see loss of muscle bulk (atrophy) of the quadriceps group of muscles which is the main knee muscle above the joint. These muscles need to be strengthened after acl repair. You will never find an athlete who undergoes acl repair/reconstruction who does not go through and extensive pt program.
