See your doctor: Contrary to your assertion, pain in the back is not a symptom of oral herpetic infection. My advice would be to visit your medical doctor for diagnostic assessment. Although back pain is sometimes due to muscle spasm, it can also be a result of other disorders, some of them serious, including referred pain from digestive tract or kidney disease.

See your dentist : Or physician for appropriate treatment and an anesthetic rinse to help with the discomfort.
