i've been having severe joint pain, swelling, hives and numbness, what could be the causes?

Virus: Sounds like a viral infection. Have you seen your doctor recently for a more specific work up to evaluate the cause. And if you live in AZ, there are also infections called coccidioidmycosis and histoplasmosis.
