See strabismologist: If the vision is good in the wandering eye, strabismus surgery (eye muscle surgery) may help. If the vision is poor in the wandering eye (amblyopia), then it is like a ship without an anchor, and may drift out wards or inwards after otherwise successful eye muscle surgery. Sometimes eye muscle exercises (vision therapy) may help, along with appropriate spectacle correction.
