Perhaps: Joint degeneration is a complex process and is affected by genetics, activity level, trauma (to name a few things). Excess mobility could load the cartilage to the point you develop arthritis. On the other hand, joints are made to move. No exercise or limited movement is not good for the cartilage. If a joint becomes painful or swollen, or stiff, consult an orthopedist for advice specific to you.

Joint Hypermobility: Dear Antri, I think what you are referring to with the term "double joints" is hypermobility, or hyperflexibility. Hypermobility means that you can move some or all of your joints more than most people can - Joint injury is more common in shoulders and knees and can lead to early or premature arthritis. But keeping strong with sensible exercise is to be encouraged. All the best!
