Will a hangnail ever go away on its own?

A hangnail: Is a piece of nail that is hanging. So, until you trim or cut the piece that is hanging it will remain a piece of nail that is still partially attached to the main body of the nail and therefore still hanging. You will have to eventually cut it or have a doctor do it for you.

No: In most cases it needs to be sut away to the area where it is not split from the main body of the nail.
