Blocked Blood Vessel: An artery and vein can both be blocked. A blocked artery can be due to placque or to a clot that develops usually in relation to a piece of plaque. Plaque is the term we used for the cholesterol-laden deposits formed inside of arteries.Veins also can have blockages. These are most often due to blood clots also but do not have a direct relationship to plaque formation.
