Several medications: Several medications cause dry mouth including anti-depressants, anti-epileptics, muscle relaxants, anti-psychotics and anti-histaminics (benadryl, claritin). Additionally, smoking/tobacco and anti-cancer drugs can also cause dry mouth.

Too Many Medications: There are more and more medications that are shown to be the cause or contributing factor of causing dry mouth. In fact the combination of drugs can cause this as well. It is best to talk with your physician and pharmacist to determine if the medications you are taking can contribute to dry mouth, and if there is a substitute that can be used for your medical condition and reduce dry mouth.
