Menorrhagia: It is possible that this could be from an infection or a polyp or fibroid. At your age a hormonal problem would be more likely- thyroid. At your age even activity, sports, or stress can cause problems. If this would persist get it checked out.

Possible pregnancy: The first issue in any reproductive age female is to eliminate the potential of pregnancy. If that has been excluded then evaluation will often include some basic blood tests and an ultrasound of the pelvis. In your age group probably the most common problem is an ovulation issue.
