A member asked:

When taking lupron (leuprolide) depot what can be done to prevent bone loss?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Medications: Lupron causes bone loss by markedly decreasing testosterone and estrogen production in the body. Estrogen loss seems to be more important for this effect. A variety of drugs including alendronate, residronate, ibandronate, zoledronic acid and Denosumab can prevent bone loss. Normal vitamin d and calcium intake are to be continued.
