Common bronchitis: Likely you are having bronchitis, which is most likely viral despite the yellowish/sticky sputum. If you are not having fever, take some cough med such as mucinex-dm (may turn sputum . Greenish) and increase fluid (helps thinning out mucus for easier expectoration). Hydration: Expectoration is improved with good hydration. The color of the phlegm usually don't portend to infections unless there are other constitutional symptoms. Using simple things as Guaifenesin can help liquefy secretions for ease of expectoration and sometimes iodine base expectorants help in breaking the bonds to liquefy secretions.
