I have to go off of my medicine for hypothyroid for over a month for an uptake scan. i'm nervous about the side effects of being off for so long. should i be worried?

No.: We do this all the time. If symptoms bother you Cytomel (liothyronine) may be given for up to two weeks before the exam.

Not really: You may feel tired and draggy, but there should be no major problems from you being off your meds for a month.

Hypothyroidism: While hypothyroidism for a withdrawal scan can be very unpleasant, the symptoms should all go away when thyroid hormone restarts.
