Copper Hair: Just as iron deposits turn to rust stains in your sink or tub as they oxidize, the same thing happens on your hair. To see if it is in fact iron or metallic deposits on your hair, cut off a few strands and place on a white paper towel an put on a drop of plain ammonia. Metallic repairs will turn the paper towel purple.
