A member asked:

Can yeast/bacterial infection go away by itself? does the vagina clean itself out even wirh no antibiotics?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe: It is possible for these types of infections to go away on their own. Sometimes, the best way to approach them is to figure out why they are happening in the first place. Common causes of recurrent infection relate to decreased vaginal estrogen or altered vaginal bacteria. Common causes include: birth control pills, vaginal "washes" and tight fitting clothes. Consider daily probiotics!
