Several causes: Drowsiness---sleepiness is can be caused by insufficient sleep, sleep apnea, narcolepy, shift work disorder, insomnia, circadian rhythm disorder, depression etc. Since, it has many causes, sleep evaluation and a sleep study may be indicated.
