A long time: Lupus severity can vary greatly. Some suffer badly much of the time, and they can be more likely to encounter dangerous complications. Many, though, will have milder and more occasional symptoms (rashes, achiness, fatigue). Taking Hydroxychloroquine and finding a careful rheumatologist will almost certainly improve the quality of your life - and may also help you to live a normal lifespan.

Lupus: With good medical care, medication compliance and excellent follow up with your treating rheumatologist, there is no reason you cannot live a totally normal, healthy and long life.
