A member asked:

Will eating sugar inflame arthritic joints?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unlikely BUT.: Sugar by itself is not inflammatory - but if you eat too much, you get overweight and this causes or worsens osteoarthritis in the lower extremities. People with diabetes can have certain types of musculoskeletal problems - classically called diabetic chieroarthropathy where there is tightening in the soft tissues, leading to tightness in the fingers, shoulders and other areas.
