A member asked:

Is is possible for arthritis to be caused by an injury that caused a bacterial infection?

Yes: Bacteria can enter the bloodstream and settle in a joint causing "septic arthritis"...This is a medical emergency and requires joint fluid drainage for testing and intravenous antibiotics. Left undiagnosed and untreated the infection will destroy the joint. Common bacterial causes include gonorrhea, staph, and strep.
